New Online Business Model Making Headway: Social Commerce
Recently I was reading about a new and improved way for brands to interact with their customers. One way that companies are now starting to market to their audience is through a medium being dubbed “Social commerce”. While surfing on the net, I came across a Canadian internet marketing blog run by an award winning SEO company in Toronto. Their founder, Ezra Silverton, wrote a blog post called Social Commerce – A new online business model gaining momentum – which discusses the increased use of social networking tools to test new products and gauge client interests. Even though eCommerce and social networking tools have been in use individually for a decade, their partnership in “Social commerce” is a new concept that will push interactive marketing to a new level. If The Gap’s recent Groupon campaign is any indication of the power of Social Commerce; good PR and excellent viral marketing reach in combination with a good deal can cause explosive sales and drive brand awareness through the roof.
